The Hilong-Polysoude Joint Automatic Welding Laboratory (hereinafter referred to as “Joint Laboratory”) was officially established on July 17, 2014 at Hilong Group’s Shanghai headquarters. This new initiative will promote further cooperation and development between the two companies in the realm of welding while also providing a more stable technical foundation for the development of Hilong offshore engineering and other businesses.
Welding is a critical step in composite steel pipe production and offshore pipeline deployment. Currently, domestic and overseas offshore pipeline deployment projects all utilize partially automated equipment and efficiency and compliance rates are relatively low. The Shanghai Hilong Petroleum Tubular Goods Research Institute Automated Welding Laboratory established the Joint Laboratory in cooperation with French welding company Polysoude S.A.S, which owns internationally leading welding techniques in realms such as nuclear power, aerospace, and offshore engineering. The new laboratory will offer stable and reliable pipeline pre-manufacturing, welding process, industrial assembly equipment, and personnel training services for Hilong offshore pipeline deployment and composite pipeline manufacturing.
The Joint Laboratory has a full range of technical facilities with more than a dozen professional professor-level senior engineers, doctoral supervisors, and senior welding technicians.
“Through the purchase of an under-water pipe-lay barge, Hilong successfully entered the field of offshore oil services last year,” said Hilong Executive President Wang Tao at the commencement ceremony. “The close cooperation with Polysoude to create the Joint Welding Laboratory will not only promote the development of welding technology and markets for both companies, but will definitely offer powerful technical support for Hilong’s development of offshore engineering services!”
About the Shanghai Hilong Petroleum Tubular Goods Research Institute Automated Welding Laboratory
The Shanghai Hilong Petroleum Tubular Goods Research Institute Automated Welding Laboratory was established in May, 2013 and is a professional laboratory focusing on pipeline (especially composite steel pipeline) automated welding processes and auxiliary industrial assembly automation research. The laboratory has internationally advanced TIG, MIG and plasma welding equipment, and pipeline welding professional inspection and testing equipment. It has successively realized for the Group 12 sets of composite pipeline welding equipment systems, as for their design, installation, adjustment, and process assessments. It also provides process assessments for major projects such as Huangyan, Keshen 2, Keshen 8, and ocean floor pipelines.
